Annual Crawl Space Service

Our service department just inspected a crawlspace after recieving a call from a customer reporting water under their crawlspace liner. Our inspection determined that water was not only under the CleanSpace liner, but on it as well. We also determined that the GFI had tripped so there was no power to the pump or the dehumidifier. There was no way to determine how long this situation had existed because the customer had not had an annual service in 7 years. At the very least, replacing the battery in the WaterWatch alarm would have let this customer know there was an issue that needed to be dealt with.

We just completed a CleanSpace installation in the Silverdale area and once again have found how unhealthy fibreglass batt insulation can be. Our cleanup included the removal of much of the underfloor insulation as it was full of rodent droppings as well as the carcasses of dead rats. Not a nice smell for our crew, or the homeowners. That is why we highly recommend a combination of rigid foam panels and polyurethane spray foam to insulate the crawlspace in a completely different manner. Much healthier and much more energy efficient! And the added benefit of not giving the rodent population a nice warm fibreglass bed to curl up in!
